Habitat for Humanity

Newnan Presbyterian Church has been involved with Newnan-Coweta Habitat for Humanity since the affiliate was founded in 1993. Members of the Church were involved in the creation of the affiliate and various members have served on the Board of Directors. The Church supports this mission financially through funding from the Outreach Ministry, Second Sunday Mission offerings, and donations from individuals. In addition to working as onsite volunteers, several Church members are involved with the Neighbor to Neighbor program, serving as training facilitators or mentors for Habitat families.
In 2004, NPC participated in the ecumenical "Foundations of Faith" build with other local Churches. The 20th Habitat house was completed through the efforts of NPC member Lee Troutman who solicited all the materials, subcontractors and labor for the house.
In Fall 2005, Habitat recognized the long-term involvement of our minister, Dr. Harry Barrow, with its 25th house.
For information about helping with Habitat, contact Glenn Scott or the Habitat office at (770) 252-9049 or http://www.nchfh.org.

Over the years Magic Makers has provided gifts for our homebound members, telephone and commissary cards for military personnel serving overseas, gifts for children at Christmas, food baskets for families at Thanksgiving, school supplies for area children, hurricane relief in Merida, Mexico, power or medical bill assistance for families and a lunch and tour of Newnan for international students.

Food Pantry
Newnan Presbyterian Church, along with First United Methodist Church, St. Paul's Episcopal Church and St. George's Catholic Church serve our community by providing volunteers for the Coweta County Food Pantry. The volunteers stock shelves and fill food orders for families who have been approved to receive assistance by the Department of Family and Children’s Services. Our Church is asked to provide volunteers three times a year, during the months of January, May and September. Volunteers work for about 2 hours per day of service. For more information, contact Dick or Donna Mattke (770-573-7078).
